ARE MUSLIMS SHORTCHANGED IN SANWO-OLU’S CABINET LIST?


 Numerous concerned Lagos residents have closely observed recent events, wherein certain individuals, Muslim clergy, and organizations have attempted to undermine the list of Cabinet nominees put forth by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

These parties have criticized the proposed composition of the cabinet, asserting that Muslims are being marginalized. These critics have resorted to using various tactics, including media campaigns, to tarnish the Governor's reputation, engaging in behavior unbecoming of their usual progressive attitude.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, known for his leadership qualities and the value he places on communal growth and prosperity, has responded to these provocations with poise and confidence, unwavering in his commitment to the peace and advancement of Lagos.

The actions taken so far, including a protest march, are not in line with the usual ethos of Lagosians, who generally prioritize harmonious coexistence, development, and progress.

It's important to clarify that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has demonstrated himself as a leader without tribal biases, one who values humanity above all else. Over the course of his four-year tenure, he has managed Lagos without any hint of discrimination.

Inaccuracies have arisen regarding the number of Muslims in the proposed cabinet. Reports suggesting that there are only 8 Muslims out of 39 nominees are incorrect. In reality, there are 16 Muslims on the list, verifiable by anyone.

It's essential to focus on competence when managing a metropolis like Lagos, aiming for excellence rather than divisive factors like religion. The pursuit of excellence should not be overshadowed by religious differences, as this could lead to unwanted disharmony.

Efforts should be made to maintain the peaceful coexistence of all religious groups within Lagos. The focus should remain on service rather than the religious background of those providing it.

Lagos is a dynamic and cosmopolitan city, and it's crucial to avoid any actions that could disrupt its harmony or plunge it into unnecessary religious conflicts.

WHO IS KAFILAT OGBARA

  Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara was born to Alhaji and Alhaja M. Ade. Kasumu’s family in Aiyepe Ogun State. She attended Adrao International School in Victoria Island and Federal Home Science PSchool Ikoyi, Lagos respectively.
