Transport Services Subsidized in Lagos

GT Waterline, a prominent commercial ferry operator, is poised to introduce an efficient water transport system in Lagos, specifically targeting the residents of Shomolu, Kosofe, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and nearby areas. Their mission is to seamlessly integrate water transport with existing modes of transportation in the region. This initiative will kickstart at the Ilaje Bariga Waterfront Jetty in Lagos.

The operation will begin with a fleet of 20-seater luxury boats, equipped with standard life jackets and cutting-edge Navigational Aids to ensure the utmost safety of passengers. These commercial ferries will ply routes from Ilaje Bariga to key locations such as Ebute Ero, CMS, Lekki, Addax/Sandfill/Law School Falomo, Victoria Island, Liverpool, and Flour Mills in Apapa, Lagos.

The schedule for daily trips from the Bariga Waterfront Jetty will run between 6:45 AM and 10:00 AM in the morning, with a return trip scheduled for 5:00 PM from Falomo terminal and 5:30 PM from CMS Jetty in the evening.

To streamline the payment process, GT Waterline will offer free Cowry cards to all customers during the initial week of operation. Passengers who already possess Cowry cards can utilize them for boarding the ferries, enhancing convenience and accessibility.

This initiative brings relief to the residents of Bariga, Ilaje, Akoka, UNILAG, and surrounding communities in Shomolu, Kosofe, Victoria Island, and Lagos Island Local Governments. They can now embrace this alternative mode of transportation for their daily commutes, facilitating easier access to their destinations and enhancing mobility throughout the region.
