In a remarkable initiative, Senator Tokunbo Abiru facilitated the National Agricultural Land Development Authority's (NALDA) Home Growing Poultry Empowerment Scheme, benefiting over 100 constituents in Ikorodu. The recipients received fully vaccinated chickens, feeds, and cages, kickstarting their foray into the poultry business. To ensure the success of their ventures, the aspiring entrepreneurs underwent comprehensive training on bird nurturing techniques and mortality reduction, aligning with NALDA's mission to develop rural communities through sustainable agriculture.

This endeavor aligns with the Facilitations/Empowerment pillar of Senator Abiru's legislative agenda, aiming to provide relief to constituents during challenging times. NALDA's broader mandate is to transform agriculture into a sustainable business, fostering wealth creation and economic growth in the country. The Home Growing Poultry Scheme reflects a commitment to economic empowerment, addressing protein shortages, safe foreign exchange, and ensuring the supply of quality protein.

The Chief Executive Officer/Executive Secretary of NALDA, Prince Paul Ikonne, highlighted the partnership's significance in realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda for agriculture development and food security. Enitan Olukotun, Senator Abiru's media aide, praised the visionary leadership of President Tinubu and NALDA for supporting livestock farmers in Lagos East Senatorial District. Olukotun also showcased Senator Abiru's impactful initiatives across various sectors, including agriculture, MSME support, infrastructure development, and empowerment programs.

Expressing gratitude, beneficiaries of the Home Growing Poultry Scheme commended Senator Abiru for delivering on promises. Mariam Olatoyosi and Oladejo Oluwaseun expressed appreciation for the support provided by NALDA and Senator Abiru, anticipating positive impacts on their businesses. The beneficiaries acknowledged the potential of the initiative in combating poverty and called on more youth to join the agriculture sector, emphasizing its promise and transformative opportunities.

The collaborative efforts between Senator Abiru, NALDA, and stakeholders underscore the commitment to fostering agricultural development, economic empowerment, and community well-being.
