In light of the escalating water hyacinth presence obstructing ferry navigation at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal, we hereby announce the temporary suspension of ferry operations at the Ikorodu Terminal until further notice. This decision is crucial to ensuring the safety of passengers and operators amid the challenges posed by the water hyacinth.
We extend our gratitude for your cooperation during this temporary closure. To maintain safety, we strongly advise against attempting access or utilizing the waterways via the Ikorodu Terminal. LASWA, in collaboration with EQUUS, is actively addressing the water hyacinth issue along the Ikorodu Terminal, with a commitment to resolving it promptly.
In response to this disruption, the Ibeshe Terminal has been opened as an alternative, and we have collaborated with the Nigerian Navy and the Association of Boat Operators Ikorodu Division to temporarily utilize the Majidun Jetty. Both the Ibeshe Terminal and Majidun Jetty are available for use during this period. Additionally, plans are underway to open another jetty in the Ikorodu axis before the end of the year, further enhancing transportation options.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we collectively strive to build and maintain safe, clean, and prosperous inland waterways.
**Signed,**
LASWA MANAGEMENT
