Senator Tokunbo Abiru Gives Out Over 8,500 Food Packs To Lagos East Constituents For Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations

Lagos, June 13, 2024– In a remarkable display of philanthropy and community support, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru distributed over 8,500 food packs to households in the Lagos East Senatorial District as part of the Ileya edition of his Food Pack distribution program. This initiative, which follows a previous distribution of over 10,000 food packs to commemorate his 60th birthday, reflects Senator Abiru's ongoing commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting vulnerable communities.

Beneficiaries from the 16 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of the district gathered eagerly at distribution points in their communities, expressing gratitude for the senator's continued support. This act of kindness comes at a crucial time, as many families struggle with the rising cost of staple foods during the festive season.

In his Sallah goodwill message, Senator Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, as well as the Southern Senators’ Forum, reassured his constituents of his dedication to enacting laws and initiatives that enhance their quality of life. He urged patience and faith in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that the administration's policy decisions would soon yield positive outcomes.

Senator Abiru's optimism was evident as he highlighted the intended impact of his Food Packs Programme, designed to mitigate the economic hardships faced by Lagos East residents. He acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government and Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in striving for food security and price stability.

This recent food pack distribution is part of Senator Abiru’s broader humanitarian efforts. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided over N150 million in financial relief to more than 2,500 vulnerable individuals, with monthly credits of N5,000 over a 24-month period.
